Off to the Beach!

Yes, it is November and yes, we're pictured here at Sauble Beach. My longtime cycling friends Andy and Bryan wanted to get in an epic ride before the snow arrived - we just happend to pick one of the warmest days in November! We started off as the sun was rising in Waterloo. By the time we got to Drayton, our fingers and toes had thawed out. In Mildmay we stoped for one of the best Western sandwiches I've ever had! (It's amazing what physical exertion does for your taste buds). Mildmay to Paisley is a fairly long stretch. Last summer Andy rode this stretch against a strong headwind, so he wasn't too keen on it. Fortunately for us we had an amazing tailwind, making this one of my favourite parts of the ride! In South Hampton, we met up with Lori and Kaitlyn (Andy's wife and daughter) and then set off for last stretch of our ride. It was definately the most scenic stretch - winding along the east coast of the Bruce Peninsula. We made a quick stop at the beach (as pictured above) and then "raced" to Oliphant, home of Andy's parents and our "Nirvana" for the evening. Awaiting us was a fabulous pasta dish which Lori had prepared beforehand. We shared a bottle of red wine and watched a movie for the rest of the evening. The next morning, after an incredible breakfast prepared by Andy's parents, we loaded up in the van and headed home. What an amazing trip! Posted by Picasa

A new season begins!

Time off the bike is a great thing...but getting back on the bike is even better! Jeff and I have settled into our home and our routines. We're eagerly awaiting the arrival of his mom who will be staying with us for 2 weeks. We can't wait to host her and show her around the big city of Cambridge :).

I'm supply teaching 2-3 days a week - enough to stay disciplined in my daily routines but not so much as to interfere with training. It's great to see everyone at GCI...it's an amazing school!

Jeff is in the process of changing careers...he's going back to working in a restaurant (much more his passion than mechanical design). As of this Friday, there will be no more commutes to Mississauga (yuck!). He's also in the process of beginning Chez Vous...fine dining catering!

For next season, I've signed with Cheerwine. We've got an incredible team lined up! (Stay tuned for more details). I feel I've gone "Full Cycle" now that I'm returning to the team that supported me in my first year back to full time racing. Thank you Anne once again for contributing so much to women's cycling!
